Exterior painting is the part of the job that actually decides how long the work lasts. A good interior repaint can sit happily for ten years; an exterior left a season too long, or specified with the wrong materials, can need redoing inside two. London weather — wind-driven rain, soot, freeze-thaw, the long damp of October through March — chews through cheap paint very quickly. So the brief on every exterior job is the same: the finish has to protect the building, not just cover it.

We work with weather-resistant masonry paints from Dulux Trade Weathershield, Sandtex, and Zinsser AllCoat for the trickier substrates, plus specialist exterior wood treatments for sash windows, fascias, soffits and bargeboards. Each material gets matched to a substrate-specific primer — Victorian lime-and-sand render takes a very different system from modern concrete brick, and pebbledash needs a thicker fill-coat than a smooth-rendered new build. We size up the building before we quote so the system actually fits what's there.

Most jobs include the joined-up work clients don't always think about until the scaffolding is up: cleaning down the render or brickwork, hacking off any blown spots and making good, treating mould and algae with anti-fungal wash, replacing rotted timber in sashes or bargeboards before they're painted, and reinstating garden walls, gates, railings and ironwork to match.
