Wallpapering in London

Feature walls to full rooms — pattern-matched, bubble-free hangs with traditional and contemporary papers.

Feature wall in a calm interior with a wallpaper-style dark green finish — wallpapering by Jet Painting

Wallpapering is a quieter craft than it looks. The actual hanging is the easy bit — the difficult work is in the prep, the pattern-matching, and getting the corners and reveals to disappear. A good hang reads as effortless; a rushed one shows in every seam and every blown bubble two weeks later.

We work with traditional pasted papers, paste-the-wall non-wovens, vinyls, grass-cloths and the heavier hand-printed wallpapers used in feature rooms. Each behaves differently — drying times, paste types, seam handling — and we won't try to save time by treating them all the same. For statement papers from Cole & Son, Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Sanderson, we treat the roll spend as part of the budget we're protecting.

Walls always get prepped before paper goes up: a coat of lining paper or sealer, repairs to any blown plaster, and a check for moisture in older buildings. We measure, plan the pattern, and plot the focal seams before cutting the first drop, so the busiest part of the room sits behind the sofa rather than behind your eyes.
