Terms of service
These are the everyday terms that apply when you engage Jet Painting & Decorating Ltd to carry out painting and decorating work. Where a separate written contract or quote is in place between us, that document takes precedence over these general terms.
Quotes
All quotes are given in writing, are valid for 30 days from the date issued, and cover the scope of work as described. Quotes are based on the surfaces visible at the time of survey. If concealed defects come to light during the work — for example, blown plaster behind existing paper, damp under finishes, or rotten substrate — we will pause and discuss the additional work and cost with you before continuing.
Scope
We carry out the work described in the agreed quote, using professional-grade materials specified by us unless otherwise agreed. Any changes to scope requested during the work are confirmed in writing (WhatsApp or email is fine) before they are carried out.
Access and preparation
You agree to provide reasonable access to the property at the times agreed, and to clear furniture, ornaments, books and breakables from the working area before we arrive. We dust-sheet and mask everything else. If furniture clearance is part of the brief, we'll itemise that in the quote.
Payment
For most jobs we ask for a deposit on acceptance of the quote — typically 25%–40% depending on size — with the balance due on practical completion. Payment terms are set out on each individual quote. We accept bank transfer and card. Late payment after 14 days carries statutory interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 where applicable.
Workmanship guarantee
We guarantee our workmanship for 12 months from practical completion. If a defect attributable to our work appears within that window — peeling, cracking, joint movement traceable to our prep — we'll come back and fix it at no cost. The guarantee doesn't cover damage caused after we leave (impact damage, water damage, alterations by others), fair wear and tear, or defects in materials supplied by you.
Materials supplied by the client
If you supply your own paint, wallpaper or other materials, we'll use them but we can't guarantee the finish on those particular materials — our workmanship guarantee still applies but is limited to the application rather than the longevity of the product itself.
Liability
We carry public liability insurance. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that can't be limited by law. Beyond that, our liability for any one job is limited to the value of the work carried out.
Cancellation
Either side can cancel before work starts — we'll refund any deposit less reasonable costs already incurred (materials ordered, etc.). Once work has begun, cancellation triggers a fair stop-and-leave-tidy charge for the proportion of the job completed.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with any aspect of the work, please tell us as soon as possible — ideally before we leave the property, so we can put it right on the spot. If a complaint can't be resolved informally, email enrique@jetpainting.co.uk with the details and we'll respond in writing within five working days.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
